INFORMATION
NAME: James Buchanan “Bucky” BarnesCANON: Marvel Cinematic Universe (w/ slight supplemental canon from comics)
AGE: Technically 100+, although he experienced that time in fits and starts and has been unconscious for a lot of it. Born March 10, 1917 and Pisces af.
TL;DR: Originally a sergeant in WWII, until he was captured by HYDRA and presumed dead. Experimented on with supersoldier serum until he developed powers, and was brainwashed into operating as a Soviet assassin known as the the Winter Soldier. Was kept in cryo freeze between missions, thus leading to him living so long, in addition to the serum slowing his aging. Was eventually deprogrammed. Now an awkward old man trying to reassimilate back into society. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
POWERS/SKILLS: Superstrength, durability, speed, and slightly enhanced healing (nothing like Deadpool or Wolverine tho). A vibranium metal arm. Elite marksmanship and hand-to-hand. Fluent in at least Russian, Romanian, and can understand German, Japanese, and Wakandan. (Considering his training, I also headcanon he’s got an functional understanding of a few other languages, like Sokovian, Italian, French, and Mandarin.)

• AUs cool with rule!63s and what-ifs and roads not taken and variations on canon. not into mundane AUs. picky about AUing into other fandoms, but i could probably be persuaded for futuristic/cyberpunk-ish things (or somebody please talk to me about a grishaverse crossover where he was a ravkan first army volunteer and fabrikators attached metal to his body, ok).

• genre interests a worn-out soldier acclimatising to unfamiliar everyday life. broken people piecing themselves back together. found family things around the avengers compound. wrestling with the team vacuum post-endgame, and rebuilding a new team out of the ashes. being basically adopted into the wilson family, holiday cookouts and all. mission hijinks, spies!!, a fake relationship while undercover. exploring a comics-inspired shared red room & winter soldier history with nat.

• physical contact he’s more standoffish than he used to be, but when he’s friendly with someone, you can probably expect some companionable claps to the shoulder etc. not good at hugs unless you’re close. is sensitive about his metal arm.• romance yes please, i’m garbage! i’m p much open to anything with enough development, but it’s probably gonna be a slow burn. ftb & smut both ok, although the latter will take some buildup. i also love strong friendships, so with any of the below chars, i’m absolutely fine with a gen focus if ya don’t ship it.

• canon/timeline literally anytime!i i default to present-day post-endgame (with AUs as necessary) and circa-fatws, but i’m also down for any and all backstory: the wwii era; when he was still the winter soldier; post-ws when he was on the run alone; post-cw when he was on the run with team cap but before going to wakanda (this is a particular fave for getting to know other avengers)… would love to do some stuff re: black widow, too, with getting involved to help nat & co. portrayal mostly drawn from the mcu for now; although i’m slowly working on my comics knowledge, and i love incorporating red room backstory.
